Chronic fatigue syndrome/ME specialist service

We offer outpatient services for people with mild to moderate symptoms who are able to attend clinics.

What we do

  • Support people adjust to the illness.
  • Provide specialist programmes to boost energy and activity.
  • Provide information about self-management techniques.
  • Lead the development of local services and support family doctors (GPs) and other health professionals.
  • Raise awareness of the illness among GPs and hospital staff (currently only around one third of GPs refer into the service).

How to access the service

  • By GP or consultant, but usually after the patient has been under the care of their GP for four to six months.
  • Blood tests must be completed before referral to rule out other conditions with similar symptoms.
  • Currently this service is only available for adults and excludes housebound patients.
  • The service is provided across Lancashire and south Cumbria.
